Enzo – Farm: La Ginestrina
A man, his land and 400 years of Tuscan olive trees.
High in the hills near Monte Amiata, in the medieval village of Castiglioncello Bandini, lies La Ginestrina, a 1,200 hectare estate cared for by Enzo, who has been its proud guardian for more than 15 years.
Enzo’s love for the land runs deep. The only things he loves more than his olive trees, he jokes, are women and horses. Every week, he drives an hour from his home to walk through the groves, checking each tree as if it were part of his family.
The Estate
La Ginestrina stretches across rolling hills, forests and creeks, forming a living ecosystem that supports true biodiversity. No chemicals have ever touched this soil. Instead, Enzo relies on nature’s rhythm, rotating crops, restoring the earth and never exploiting the same piece of land twice in a year. It is not a marketing choice, he says, but the only way to keep the land alive for generations to come.
The Olive Trees
The olive groves at La Ginestrina are home to trees that are more than 400 years old, standing as living witnesses to centuries of Tuscan farming. All of Enzo’s trees are of Tuscan origin, representing four native varieties that have adapted perfectly to the local soil and climate. Unlike many modern farms that plant high-yield trees from other regions, La Ginestrina stays true to its roots, valuing authenticity over volume.
These ancient trees, nourished by clean mountain air and mineral-rich soil, produce olives with a naturally balanced and complex flavor. The result is an extra virgin olive oil that is vibrant, fruity and full of character — a pure expression of Tuscan nature.
For BABBO
La Ginestrina provides the olives behind BABBO’s extra virgin olive oil. Each bottle carries the essence of Enzo’s land, pure, honest and crafted with respect for both tradition and nature.
