Leonardo Stendardi – Farm: Agogna
In the hills of Capalbio, Tuscany, Leonardo Stendardi runs Azienda Agricola Agogna, his family’s farm and one of the foundations of BABBO’s supply chain. At 28 years old, Leonardo is the third generation to work this land and has fully taken over the estate from his father, something he says he could never imagine not doing.
The Farm
Agogna covers more than 220 hectares of organic farmland, where Leonardo cultivates Einkorn and Senatore Cappelli wheat, tomatoes and ceci (chickpeas). His work is guided by a regenerative approach to agriculture — not because it is fashionable, but because it is the only way to keep the land healthy for the next generation.
Every season, he changes the crops and allows the soil to recover, maintaining balance rather than pushing for volume. The result is lower yields, slower cycles and harvests of genuine quality.
Farming with Intention
The soil at Agogna has never been treated with synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Leonardo relies on natural rotations, green manure and organic matter to keep it alive and fertile. This respect for the land creates a self-sustaining ecosystem that supports biodiversity and preserves the soil’s integrity year after year.
For BABBO
Agogna provides BABBO with its Einkorn and Senatore Cappelli wheat, the foundation of our organic pasta line. Leonardo’s grains are milled nearby and turned into pasta that carries the same integrity as the soil it grows from: pure, honest and full of character.
