About Us
BABBO began in 2024, inspired by four friends who wanted to make high-quality, organic Italian food more accessible and less costly for everyone. A shared passion for Italian food culture helped us see the obvious gap in the market for healthy, affordable, high-quality foods. So, we decided to take action.
Four Friends on a Mission
Francesco met Alex in Amsterdam and they soon became roommates. Francesco, as an Italian, and Alex, who traveled to Italy throughout his life, frequently talked about the food culture in Italy- wondering why they couldn’t access that same level of taste and quality in the North. They thought maybe it was time to do something about it.
So, Francesco reached out to Leonardo, an Italian farmer he met while studying Food Science in Turin. Alex looped in his friend Max, a professional athlete. This combination of a desire for better, healthier food options, combined with the know-how of Leo’s farming background and Max’s nutritional knowledge, the building blocks of BABBO began to take shape.
After countless conversations, farm visits to Italy, and a few lively debates, BABBO was born. The name “BABBO,” means “papa” in the Tuscan dialect. We thought this was the perfect way to show our shared appreciation for tradition, authenticity, and desire to build meaningful relationships between farmers and our customers.
The ultimate dream is to inspire a more transparent food system—one that values sustainability, pure and authentic flavors, and the rich stories behind each product. We’re a small company, but as we scale up, we remain firmly committed to our core values:
