Amadeo Grappi
In the rolling hills of southern Tuscany, where the Val d'Orcia region’s landscape is as timeless as the traditions that run through it, you'll find Mulino Val d'Orcia, a small but mighty mill that embodies the heart and soul of Italian artisanal production. This is no ordinary mill, though—it’s a passion project built on generations of farming knowledge and a deep-rooted love for the land, driven by one family's desire to preserve ancient techniques and create food with true integrity.

The story begins with Luchino Grappi, a seasoned farmer who, after years of working the Tuscan soil, decided to take a leap in 2006 and purchase an old stone mill. What began as an experiment—“just for fun,” as his son Amadeo tells it—soon evolved into something far more significant. Luchino, with his unmatched agricultural experience, saw the value in reviving the art of stone milling and the profound difference it could make in the quality of the grains and flours they were producing.
Today, Amadeo carries the torch. While Luchino has stepped back from the business, Amadeo has poured his heart into expanding Mulino Val d'Orcia. He has grown the business without losing sight of the strong family philosophy that keeps them connected to their beloved land. Each decision made at the mill is guided by a deep respect for their heritage, ensuring that every grain they produce is a true reflection of the Val d'Orcia region.
A Family Legacy, a Future Vision
As Amadeo continues to grow Mulino Val d'Orcia, he remains focused on keeping his family’s legacy alive.
